Glicério

Glicério is a municipality in the state of São Paulo in Brazil. It is located at latitude 21°22′34″ South and longitude 50°12′21″ West, with an altitude of 400 meters. The population in 2004 is 4,528 and the area is 274.83 km².
In the mid-nineteenth century the Castillo family settled in the lands that today comprise the Municipality of Glicerio. Inhabited the vicinity at the time the Indians crowned, after some time, invaded the properties of the pioneers, pushing them away. In 1906, thirty years or so, the expulsion of the first settlers, General Francisco Glicerio approached the region, bringing the rails of the railroad northwest of Brazil, today Federal Railways, and providing conditions for the Castillo family return to live permanently their lands. Around 1913 was founded the then inhabited by Castilho, with several homes and rustic large number of workers who settled on the spot, attracted by the fertility of the soil. Faced with her progress, the village was elevated to District of Peace in 1920 with the name of General Glicerio Francisco, named after the explorer. Five years later he was elevated to the rank of Council, installed in 1926 to simply "Glicério".
